Marriage Enrichment
Todd & I where planning on leaving Logan @ 4pm to make it to Provo for our marriage enrichment retreat by 6:30pm, but we had to pick up our awesome phones from Matt (4G, Epic Galaxy II S) before leaving and I had to say goodbye to Ada & Izzy at the Pet Hotel (I wish we could bring them with us and have them crash at the hotel). So we end up leaving at 6:30pm, but it was worth it. I love our grils.
So far this retreat has been a classy, private and intimate one. When we arrived they had snacks available and they had couples share thier stories. They had us right down question and sent the women to our rooms to write down our response and the men stayed downstairs wirting their responses. After 10 minutes they sent the men upstairs to meet up with us to share what we wrote down.
Todd's key did not work so he knocked on the door, come to find out he knocked on the wrong door when the woman who answered was not his wife. I told him, "hon, this is not wife swap." We had a good laugh. They also gave the men a red rose to show up to the door with. It was very sweet.
Here are some of the questions they had us reflect upon:
1) Why did I come to this weekend?
2) What do I hope to gain?
3) What do I enjoy about our marriage now?
4) What am I willing to contribute to the growth of our marriage
5) What qualities of yours attracted me to you?
6) Wha do I love and appreciate about you now?
They have a couple share their story and gave us 2 set of questions to reflect up and share them with our spouse. We did this a few times tonight.
I'm looking forward to what we will l

Layoffs
11 people were laid off work today. I realized something was wrong this morning and decided I would read scriptures and pray to block myself from the negative energy I could feel permeating the milieu at work this morning (it worked; I managed to handle everything calmly). I did all of this before I found out about the layoffs. I was surprised to hear that Amy Wolters, Carol and Ben were let go. I thought for sure I would go before Carol due to seniority. Pat mentioned that due to my skill-set, Spanish and all I contributed to the Study are the reasons why they kept me. How do I feel about it?....read my blue/brown journal. I had a Doctors appointment in the middle of the news with Dr. John. It could not have come at a more opportune time.
Some of the highlights from my session:
1) I mentioned it takes two to tangle and he said, "no, it only takes one to light a fire".
2) I talked about how HR mentioned that my work environment would provide me the opportunity for growth and development. He stated, "not so, that a negative environment will leave scars and baggage and that if you have the opportunity to leave why stay."
3) I referenced scriptures and said well what about long suffering and charity. He stated, "Joseph Smith was in Carthage jail, do you think he would have stayed any longer when he was let go because he thought it might do him some good. He mentioned that scripture was meant for people who were unable to change their situation. 4) He mentioned I have four things going or me: two that were outside of my control (being Hispanic and a woman. The other two he felt were very valuable: my ability to connect with other people/that I'm so easy to work with and lastly my intelligence (my thoughts on his comments: it was so nice to here those things, because it's been a while since I've heard any positive affirmation like that from a professional).
He also stated that I was a mentally stable, healthy individual and that I would only need one more session to be done (it will only take 3 sessions to deal with work related issues).
Went back to work, got filled-in with the rest of what went on by Pat. Checked in with my team individually to see how they were doing. Talked to Ben, gave him a hug and said goodbye.
Bought my dogs some huge bones to chew on (they loved them).
Went to din din with Todd at Firehouse Pizzeria.
Bought sympathy cards and made earrings for Carol and Amy Waltors as a parting gift.
To conclude here are the things I'm grateful for: I'm grateful for my talent to give gifts to family and friends that suit them. I'm grateful for the deep relationships I have (I feel fortunate for all the people I am able to turn to for support if needed). I'm grateful for Todd and Izzy and Adda. I love walking the dogs up the canyon where they can be off their leashes.

Sunday and Monday Coverage
Sunday Todd & I attended all of church with Rollie Pollie. After church we ran over to Todd's parents house to set up dinner for our visiting teachees (Kristi's and Ashlee's family). We served 6 kids and 8 Adults. It turned out to be a huge success. The Lasagna and Salad were a hit. For desert we had my chocolate bunt-cake, brownies and Aggie Vanilla ice-cream. You could tell people were building connections with one anther and Kent Crandal mentioned that we (Jody and I) are the best visiting teachees his wife has ever had. He said he didn't want Todd and I to ever move out of the ward (that was nice to here). This has been my favorite ward, other than the one I grew up in.
I called Marion before dinner to see if we could use her home instead of grandma Rosalie since Denna planned a dinner with grandma Rosalie for Josh's birthday the same day. We found out about it a little to late, but fortunately we were able to use Todd's parents house. In the end it worked out better. There was more room to serve everyone and the kids had room to run around and play.
Today was a great day. Slept in till 10am. I tried to do energy work on Rosalie to help her distress, but that didn't work out to well (the work I did do whiped me out). All she did was laugh at the idea of it, so I had to stop and told her to let me know when she is open to it and I would be happy to help her out.
So instead we went on an awesome hike with the dogs up Juniper Trail. It was gorgeous; lots of snow. Todd played fetch with the dogs. He would also throw snowballs up in the air for Ada to catch (that girl can get some air).
I made a heart bracelet for Rosalie. She left before I could finish it, so I'll be taking it to her this Thursday.
Things I'm grateful for: I'm grateful that I enjoy cooking for other people. I'm grateful for my health and the ability to walk/jog up the canyon with my dogs. I'm grateful for Todd and his kindness. Last but not least I'm grateful I've been able to get to know grandma Rosalie.

Saturday 2/18/12
Had a phenomenal day.
Started with my Energy Class from Tammy Jenson. Made some good friends and learned how to balance Chakras, muscle test and use oil for therapy treatment. I love these new tools I'm learning. I learned what fears I have and how to release them from my body.
After class I met up with Jody to make Lasagna for our visiting teachees' dinner appointment we have planned for Sunday.
On our way to buy some groceries needed to make the Lasagna:
Ammon (Jody's son) asked me why don't you have kids? I said, "Because they are not here yet." He asked, "where are they?" "They're in heaven waiting to come down."
Latter in the day he referenced the statement i made about my future kids... saying, "When you have kids..." (and I wish I could remember the rest of his sentence, but I thought it was cute).
It is so much better to cook with someone else... especially when it's Jody. We cooked Lasagna for 15 people and I shared with Jody some of the things I learned from class. We had a great time! We talked about Truth and Lite and decided we were going to duplicate a study the Japanese did in the past about proving that words omit energy buy using a jar of water and rise. After some time about 3 days you see the positive and negative effects integrated into the rise.
Rosalie called at 5pm to let me know she was on her way to visit us from Salt Lake. I'm so excited she's here and I have lots of fun stuff planned for us this weekend. She walked the dogs, fed them and put them in their kennel. I was extremely grateful for that.
The 5 things that I am gratefull for include:
I'm grateful for my ability to make friends easily. I'm grateful for the social cues I can pick-up on. I'm grateful for my family and their personalities. I'm grateful for the gospel in my life and I'm grateful for the nice cars we get to drive.

Thursday 2/16/12-Providence Canyon
I got to talk to Eli first thing this morning about what's new in his life. It was good talking to him...I love him so much. He's such a great brother!
After work I went running up Providence Canyon with Amy Nielson and our dogs. It's always a pleasure spending time with her. The Canyon was gorgeous! There was about 10 inches of fresh powder on the trail. The dogs loved it and are now sleeping like logs.
We had Scouts at 6:30pm with our Webelos and it was Coopers last day with us (man they grow up so fast). Grandma Rosalie enjoyed watching them compete one with another for their fitness pin (from push-ups to sit-ups or how far they could jump). To celebrate Cooper's last day we took Austin and Cooper's brother Andrew to Charlie's for ice cream afterwards.
Got home cooked Tia Chicken Chick-peas soup for our group lunch tomorrow.
It was a very productive fun day :-)

2/9/2012-Thursday-Row's Deadline
This is something I've been wanting to journal about. Last week I
got a phone call from my mother. She mentioned that Rosalie was having a
hard time at school and asked me to pray for her. Also within that same week there was a high school student
that approached Rosalie and mentioned they wanted to commit suicide. Rosalie worked so hard trying to get
that student help, which lead to other issues, but also during that time Row
had this crazy deadline she had to meet in order to pass the first half of her
internship.
I called Row after getting off of the phone with mom to see how she was
doing. I could tell in her tone of voice she was overly discouraged. So after I hung up the phone, I knelt
down and said a prayer for her. I
knew that praying was great but getting up and doing something about it would
answer that prayer, so I called Cristina at 10:00 pm and explained Rosalie’s
dilemma. She hesitated, but agreed
to go with me to Salt Lake from Logan to help Rosalie grade. Cristina managed to recruit Claire Adams
(that girl has a heart of Gold). I
called Rollie Pollie and told her okay you have an 1.5 hours to get organized
before we show up to help you grade.
We arrive in Salt Lake at midnight and sang Rosalie her favorite song.
“Relax don’t do it” from the Proposal while Cristina was dancing for her. Rosalie’s response was classic… We get
to work and help her organize and enter in grades into the computer. I went to
bed at 3:40 am so I could wake up and drive at 6am. Cristina and Claire stayed up till 5am. We all woke up at 6am to make it
to work in Logan. I prayed for
help to make it back to Logan without falling asleep and Heavenly Father answered my prayer
(1.5 hour drive one way). God
answers prayers and helps us when we ask for it. I’m the type of person that
likes to get things done and with God’s help all is possible!
Highlights: Helping Row out
and being her answer to her prayers that night. Rosalie ended up meeting her deadline 2 minutes before 5 pm.
She says she would not have made it without us :-) Praying
for help to stay awake on the drive back home with only 2 hours
and 20 minutes of sleep and no caffeine.
Valentine's Day 2/14/12
For Valentine’s Day I place a card with a coupon-book inside
of it in the Camaro behind the steering wheel to surprise Todd. I could tell he forgot to get me
something for valentine's, in his tone of voice, when he called to ask about
dropping off “Crazy Stupid Love” on his way to campus. Around 11am Todd showed up to work with
a card and a potted plant with no blossoms. The card read I don’t know what plant I got you, but when it
blossoms it will be a surprise.
The card was sweet and we went to Texas Road house for lunch. Todd mentioned he hates the government
telling him when to celebrate his love for his wife and prefers to do it on his
own time. Kyle Mumford from work
also tried explaining how Valentine’s Day is a fabricated holiday via Wikipedia
and history.com. Frankly I don’t
really care if it’s a fabricated holiday; any excuses eat candy and share the
love with family and friends is all right with me. Happy Valentine's Day!

2/13/12- Had a great day running up Smithfield canyon with one of my favorite peeps in the world... Amy Nielson-Campbell (she's hard-core). On our way up the canyon we ran into a group of people who flipped their truck over (they were sliding around a corner and their tire got stuck in a rut). We offered help, but they seemed to have it all figured out. Our dogs loved being off their leashes (sprinting back & forth as if they were on crack; crack babies Izzy and Sinbad).
Highlight of the jog: Aside from the awesome view and sunset...Amy lost one of her YakTraxs... I said a prayer and asked God to help us find it. Amy running ahead of me (looking for it) missed seeing it. I found it in the middle of the trail. I knew God had a hand in helping us. Heavenly Father will help us with all the minute details of our lives. He loves us! We just need to ask.
